Dark Chocolate May Lower Blood Pressure

A recent study by Dirk Taubert, MD, PhD at the University of Cologne, Germany revealed that dark chocolate may help lower blood pressure. It seems that the polyphenols (antioxidants) present in dark chocolate are responsible for this positive health benefit. However, the amount of chocolate necessary to provide this result also packs a high number of calories. For anyone struggling to reduce blood pressure, weight gain would be counterproductive.

It seems to me that we would be better off savoring the pleasure of a small amount of dark chocolate. Lowering blood pressure might be achieved in better ways.
